An Introduction to Mythopoetic Masculinity

Duration: 90 minutes

Is masculinity in crisis? If so, how did we get here?

This talk explores the roots of modern masculinity through myth, psychology, and cultural change. From old German fairy tales to the archetypes of King, Warrior, Magician, and Lover inspired by Jungian thought, we trace how men have made and lost meaning in a shifting world.

We look at the tensions between feminism and the so-called "manosphere," asking what happens when men search for belonging but find confusion, isolation, or aggression instead.

In response, we turn to the mythopoetic men's movement—a lineage of story, ritual, and soul work that invites men into deeper integrity.

Part story, part inquiry, part invitation, this presentation offers a path forward.

Stealing the Key: Men, Sex and the Mother Complex

Duration: 100 minutes

According to the fairy tale Iron John, made famous by Robert Bly, a Wild Man lives in the depths of the masculine psyche.

In the modern world, this Wild Man has been caged—tamed and locked away in the courtyard of the king. Yet in every man’s life, there comes a moment when he knows he must steal the key to set the Wild Man free.

This key unlocks his vitality, sovereignty, and erotic power.

But it’s not given freely. It must be taken—wrested from cultural conditioning, expectations, and the unconscious grip of the Mother Complex.

Without this task, men are often trapped between two extremes: the obedient good boy who seeks approval and avoids risk, or the rebel who rejects structure in a desperate bid for freedom.

Both are shadows of something deeper—something wilder.
