WILD MOUNTAIN
The Epic of Parzival
MAY 16-19, 2025
Cedar Song Centre for Wild Belonging
119 Ross Durrance Rd, Victoria BC
For the first time Dr Martin Shaw brings the Grail epic of Parzival to Canada. This enormous story was regarded by Joseph Campbell as the epicenter of Western myth, and a wellspring of initiatory wisdom.
Taking several days to tell, Shaw will open up its deepest implications, whilst creating roads into the lives and challenges we are experiencing today.
Expect to learn stories to tell yourself, have solo time on the land and learn about the symbolic stages of both rites-of-passage and this extraordinary story. Expect a useful masterclass in the governance of memory.
It is a tremendous feat of imagination and stamina to tell Parzival from beginning to end, & Dr Shaw is bringing twenty years study & joyful labor to the task, Robert Bly describing Shaw’s telling as “a kind of outlaw language: there’s woodsmoke and fox fur in his thinking.”
